I would love nothing more than to have a bigger studio and be able to do photography every day — but I can’t, not even for “a quick photo, just the one”.
When you take a selfie, how many shots do you usually take before you’re happy?
Professional photography works the same way — just with much more involved.
When I have a session booked, it takes at least an hour to set up and around two hours to pack away afterwards. Nothing is left out. Everything is carefully organised and stored, ready for the next session. All equipment is stored and locked away for health and safety reasons.
In professional photography, a photo is never just a photo.
What you see as one finished image is the result of preparation, lighting, posing, camera settings, selection, and careful editing. Every image is crafted, not snapped.
Even if you only choose one final photo, the work behind it includes:
That “one photo” represents experience, skill, time, and creative judgement — not just the second it took to press the button.
Photography isn’t fast food.
It’s more like a handcrafted meal — even one dish takes time, care, and expertise.
My pricing reflects this.
It reflects the time, effort, skill, experience, and the cost of professional equipment, training, insurance, and running a safe studio. My prices are not based on how “quick” a photo might seem — my prices are my worth.
Many past clients have said, while watching me work, that they never realised how much goes into a session. Every one leaves happy, with a new appreciation for the process — and that makes all the hard work worthwhile.
